The general premise of the game is to be assigned cards adding up to twenty-one. Each twenty-one player is assigned two cards. When a gambler is dealt a nine or less and an Ace they have been dealt a soft hand. When the black jack player is dealt no Ace cards it is called as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been given to all players at the table, including the dealer, every gambler is provided the chance to make one of 6 choices:
Taking another card (Hit): When a player says hit me the croupier will deal him another card, if the addition of that card makes the total greater than twenty one the black jack player will have lost and that is the end of the game, if the card makes the total to 21 the blackjack player will be the winner and if the total hasn’t yet reached twenty one they’re still in the game.
Keeping the hand you’ve been dealt: If a player is happy with the cards they will hold. Once this has happened the croupier will display their cards and the gambler who has gotten 21 or the nearest to twenty one will come away with a win.
Doubling Down: A gambler may ask to double down which doubles the wager they have made. As soon as you’ve taken this procedure you can only receive one additional card. The details of doubling down are normally specified by the blackjack table or betting house rules so before wagering make certain you’re comfortable with the house rules. If you are gambling at a web betting house this is usually quite simple.
